Secrets (Serenity Series #1)
Author: Dawn Kirby
Will Be Published: July 29, 2012
Format: Ebook and Paperback
Synopsis: It is said that the truth will set you free, but for Leah it kills.
Leah always knew she was different. From her extreme light sensitivity, to her ability to read people by their auric scent, she kept these differences secret.
Not even Mia, Leah's mother, knew the fullness of her daughter's differences, but she held even greater secrets to Leah's past - the truth about her father and Leah's conception.
With the escape of an old foe, Mia is too late to reveal to her daughter
the truth before Judith can exact her revenge in a wash of blood and death.
Thrown into a world unheard of, Leah discovers that she is not alone in keeping her secrets. That there are people from her parent's past who would die to protect her. If she only knew why.
Raine, placed as her protector, hides deadly secrets of his own. Drawn to each other, Leah and Raine must uncover the truth before one of both are killed.

Tour Set Up By Illuminated Tours:
Interview with Dawn M Kirby
Lyn: Are you a pantser or a plotter?
Dawn Kirby: I’m definitely a pantser. When I sit
down to write, I know how I want to start the story and how I’d like to end it,
but it never happens that way. For me, it works better. I don’t feel tied down
to a specific storyline or plot. Since I have no straight and narrow direction,
my mind is free to ponder all kinds of little twists and turns.
Lyn: From where did you draw inspiration
to create the world of Secrets?
Dawn Kirby: The most honest answer I can give would
be to say that most of my inspiration comes from the dark. That’s when I do
most of my writing. There’s just something about the night sky, the moon, the
stars, the still that makes creating a supernatural world fascinating. Add a
thunderstorm or two and it amps up the volume that much more. Not to mention the
rain always adds an element of sexy to the mood.
Lyn: If you could spend the day with Leah
or Raine, who would you pick and why?
Dawn Kirby: Raine, definitely. He’s such a complex
character it would be nice to get to try to get him all figured out.
Lyn: What is your writing routine?
Dawn Kirby: I really don’t have one. I work full
time so I do my best to write whenever I can. Most of the time weekends are the
best time to write. Once I get lost in a WIP, I can write for hours at a time
without worrying about anything else in the world.
Lyn: Complete
the sentence, when I'm not writing . . .
Dawn Kirby: I’m spending time with my family or
running errands. Outside my make-believe I’m really not that exciting. With
three kids, two dogs, two cats and a full time job, time on the couch just to
breath for a while is welcome.
Lyn: If you could invite four authors to
dinner, dead or alive who would they be?
Dawn Kirby: Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe, S.E.
Hinton and Harper Lee
