It never ceases to amaze me

This is the story of how one author touched the life of one person, so much in fact that the author's fan has been searching for his books for over forty years.

The fan I'm referring to is my mother. Sometime in the late fifties, she ran across an author named Hugo Wast. His real name was Gustavo Adolfo Martinez Zuviria, and he was from Argentina. Mr Wast traveled the world, and had a very long life, filled with 12 children and many more grandchildren.

To my mother, Hugo Wast wrote the best books.

She told me how every week, she would visit the mobile library and pick one of his books from the shelf. After the first three times, the librarian used to be ready for her, and have the next book waiting on the desk.

I am not sure why my grandparents weren't able to get copies of Hugo Wast works but my mom says that once she started working, around 1967, she tried to find the books so she could add them to her library. Unfortunate, she never found them.

As a writer, I can't help but admire writers as Mr Wast, who touch their readers so deeply.

My mom's quest to find Hugo Wast works has spanned 45 years, and her love for the books is around 55 years old. What I wouldn't give to have just one person love my books the way my mother loves Mr Wast's incredible body of work!

I have to say that thanks to Amazon, my mother's search for Hugo Wast's works is over. I found a collectible book on the site, with all his novels and essays. It's going to be her birthday present come August 23rd, her 65th birthday.
